Hollywood and TV producers make murder and violence their main theme. Looks like Hollywood sets the tone for life in the US.. How do we change this?|||Hollywood doesn't set the tone, it follows it. There is a high demand for violence in movies and so they will offer it.
It's part of human instinct to want to see violence when it happens. This is probably because if we see someone hurt or killed, we will be less likely to make the same mistake they did.
Roman Polanski said: “You have to show violence the way it is. If you don't show it realistically, then that's immoral and harmful. If you don't upset people, then that's obscenity.”
If people see violence in films that's watered down and mild, then they will have unrealistic ideas of what violence is. Whereas if it shows the real brutality of violence, then they will be as fearful of it as they should be.
I don't think Hollywood needs to stop using violence in movies, they just need to respect it when they do.
