What were long-term effects of Red Scare Hollywood Blacklisting that made it a turning point in film history?

What effects, on film, the entertainment industry, or otherwise, were the result of Hollywood Blacklisting during the McCarthy Era (HUAC)? How did this change film/the industry and serve as a turning point in film history?|||Well for one thing it deeply censored the films that were being made. The films began to attain very little progressive tendencies and even lost alot of symbolic influence. The films being made became those that supported the American ideals of Democracy etc.

Another issue involved the accusations of many film stars that they were "Communists" such as Lucille Ball who was even accused for simply having red hair!
