What are some good music venues/different stuff to do in Hollywood, CA?

I'm planning a trip to Hollywood, Ca at the end of May this year and we will be there for a weekend. Staying in central Hollywood. What are some good indie music venues? Coffee shops or 18 and over not to crazy night clubs? What else would you recommend for two chicks 18 and 23 to do while staying in Hollywood. We love indie music, art.
