Why was it Hollywood that served as the birthplace for films in America?

My general thinking is that it could have been any other city in the United States, why Hollywood? Why do we associate Hollywood with the roots of the film industry and movies being produced in toadies time?|||Originally, New York served as the birthplace for American Films. |||Good weather and cheap (at the time) real estate.|||hollywood is cool|||In the words of the song "it never rains in southern california." The first movies required natural light and there was more reliable sunshine in california than in new york where the first american industry was. There was also more open space around the area for locations.





The first movies in the Los Angeles area were made in 1906 and the first in Hollywood was in 1910.
