Does he ever play any other character but himself in movies? He has the driest personality of any star out there. If it weren't for his roles as a child, he wouldn't be in Hollywood today.

Personally, I think these questions based on preference really don't establish anything.
Do you even know Christian Bale to know that he plays his life in every movie he does? Obviously not. Christian Bale is an excellent actor (just because he flipped out doesn't take away from his ability and I think this is what this post is really about)

But he'll always be 'Jack' in "Newsies" to me. : )
